Rosa Parks (1913-2005)
Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist whose refusal to give up her bus seat to a white passenger in 1955 was a planned act of defiance against segregation. This single, courageous action sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, a pivotal moment in the American Civil Rights Movement. Her story demonstrates the profound impact that a principled stand by one person can have in the fight for equality.
